– en route visit Louisiana Welcome Center, Oil & Gas Park, Gator Chaleau
– Cajun dinner & music, Lafayette, Louisiana
– hotel: DoubleTree by Hilton, Lafayette, La (five nights)
Day 2 Wednesday, November 10: Introducing the Cajuns: History, Music, & Dance
– visit Acadian Cultural Center National Historic Site
– tour Vermilionville Living History & Folk Life Park
– visit Evangeline Oak Site and Museum with archeology presentation
– Cajun dinner and Cajun dance lessons
Day 3 Thursday, November 11: Cajuns in the Wetlands: Rivers, Bayous, & Swamps
– visit Army Corps of Engineers Old River Control Structure
– tour Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center National Historic Site
– boat tour in Atchafalaya Swamp
– dinner and dancing, restaurant overlooking Bayou Teche
Day 4: Friday, November 12: Cajuns at Work: Agriculture & Petroleum
– visit Avery Island salt dome and McIlhenny Tabasco Factory
– tour Jungle Gardens Wildlife Sanctuary
– visit Acadian Museum of Erath with presentation about Royal Proclamation
– tour Jefferson Mansion or Gardens, and Lake Peigneur salt dome
– dinner overlooking the Vermillion River
Day 5: Saturday, November 13: Cajuns on the Prairies: Rice and Crawfish
– tour Conrad Rice Mill or Kelly’s Landing rice fields & crawfish ponds
– afternoon at Rocky’s lake house: BBQ, campfire, hiking, canoeing, local friends
– tour Acadian Prairie Cultural Center National Historic Site
